Too Far To Swim EP – Rosie May

31 Aug

A heads up, for those who don’t know Rosie May or haven’t heard her beautiful new EP ‘Too Far To Swim’

I have been listening to this on repeat for the last hour now, amazed again and again after each listen. Rosie’s voice which yearns and resolves with such hopefulness, is something that anyone who is unsatisfied with a situation, but knows they must get on for things to be OK, will relate to. There is beauty in patience. So if your feeling like giving up on something, have a listen here first. You might change your mind.

Included on the EP, is a stunning arrangement of an old trad song called ‘Water Is Wide’ Rosie you are a Siren!

You can buy a limited edition hand printed EP from Rosie’s Bandcamp page, not only will you be getting a very special CD, but a piece artwork to keep it in from Rosie’s mum too. Such a talented Family.

Be Part Of Something

22 Aug

Jack In water have been busy organising a series of events aimed at bringing people together. The project is Called ‘Be Part Of Something’.

The idea was warmly received and backed by the arts council who have given funding to help make this project a reality.

Over the past four weeks people have come from different communities to various venues in Essex to spend the day together, singing together, lunching together getting to know one another and being a part of the project this including members of a local community choir ‘Vocal Reflections’ led by Lin Hargrave who has also led these events.

The outcome of these events will manifest into the final showcase event where illustrations by Local artist Lauren Crow and Portraits by Photographer Andrew Hood of people who have come to the events will be exhibited. There will be performances By Jack In Water and there new found singing buddies as well as performances from other local musicians with there interpretation of their favourite Jack In Water songs.

Jack In water are not only a band who make music about Happiness but they also make films about it too. This whole experience has been documented which includes the thoughts and ideas of what these kind of community projects means to the people who have been involved. This Documentary will also be screened at the final event which will take place At Thaxted Church, Essex on the 22nd of September.

Make sure you are part of something and get yourself down to the last event in September.
